Wondering how to remember that wine?

posted by hdittmer at 8:07 AM

You know how it goes. You are dining out with your special someone and you have an amazing bottle of wine. No paper, no pencil but you want to remember the winery and vintage for the future. What to do? Well wip out your flexible scanner and scan the label of course. Don't have a flexible scanner? Never seen one? Well it turns out that researchers at the Univeristy of Tokyo have developed a flexible scanner made up of a polymer matrix containing thousands of photodiodes. You say that you can think of thousands of better ideas for using this concept than scanning a wine bottle label? Well so can I, so let's talk. By the way this same team is working on a artificial skin for robots that can sense touch and temperature. So how can you use new sensor technologies to make your products better?
