Herbst LaZar Bell Inc Receives Three Prestigious IDEA Medals
posted by hdittmer at 5:18 PM
Chicago, IL Herbst LaZar Bell Inc (HLB), the internationally recognized product development firm, announced today that it has won three Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), presented by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and co-sponsored by BusinessWeek magazine. The three IDEAs presented to HLB for the 2003 event were for the following products:
First Years Comfort Care Product Line, Gold Medal
Robertshaw LP Tank Monitoring System, Gold Medal
Rogan Control Knobs and Clamp Levers, Silver Medal
The First Years Comfort Care Product Line are the easiest, safest, and most innovative baby care products on the market today, combining adult and infant ergonomics into one shape, according to HLB. The products in this line eliminate the stress of providing care by adding value and unique design features, such as a built-in magnifying lens on nail clippers to help see baby's tiny fingers, and a sponge converged with a cradle cap brush onto one hand-held device for washing baby. Comments from the IDEA judges on the First Years selection included: This is an enchanting and elegant range of new baby care products. Each item has been carefully considered with both parents' and infants' needs in mind and will be treasured for many years. --Naomi Gornick, I/IDSA, Associate Professor, Brunel University, UK.
The Robertshaw LP Tank Monitoring System is an in-home Radio Frequency (RF) device that monitors fill levels in propane tanks and automatically transmits data to service centers to order replenishments. Targeted to the growing number of homes that rely on Liquid Propane (LP) gas as their primary energy source, this system offers a hands-free, convenient and safe alternative to previous fuel monitors.Judges citing the Robertshaw project commented, The team at HLB has done a great job designing a simple, intuitive device that significantly simplifies the life of propane-gas homeowners. The elegance of the design makes it appropriate for installation in any home whilst establishing a powerful identity for Robertshaw. This clearly sets a new standard for the industry. --Duncan Paul, I/IDSA, Global Design Leader of Fabric and Homecare, Procter and Gamble, Eurocor, NV.
The Rogan Control Knobs and Clamp Levers are the most universally designed ergonomic knobs and hand hardware marketed in the world. They are intended for a variety of products and functions, including leading appliances, contract furniture, consumer and industrial products of all kinds.
