Herbst LaZar Bell Inc. Announces New President of HLB Healthcare

Chicago, IL. - Herbst LaZar Bell (HLB), the internationally recognized product design consultancy, announced recently that Claude Tihon has been named President of HLB Healthcare. In this new position, Dr. Tihon’s primary role is working with clients on their healthcare projects; overseeing strategic planning, project management and new product development.

“I have been associated with Dr. Tihon for approximately 10 years in our service as director’s of a biomedical firm, and his efforts in inventing a major breakthrough in the treatment of BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia), along with the inventions that have driven the medical company he just sold makes him the perfect candidate for the job,” stated Walter Herbst, founding partner of HLB. “We’re delighted to have Dr. Tihon now leading the medical work that we have been doing here for the past 15 years.”

Dr. Tihon carries an extensive background spanning over 35 years in the healthcare field. He has initiated the creation and development of numerous cornerstone products used in the market today. He previously worked for Pfizer Hospital Products Groups in a wide range of positions including Head of a Strategic Business Unit, Vice President of Research & Technology Assessment, and Director of Research. There, he created new product lines and re-directed them to more closely fit market needs while developing long-term brand awareness.

Prior to that, Dr. Tihon was the Director of Cellular Diagnostic Development for Miles Scientific where he headed the launch of several major product lines and developed new business to complement the company’s previously existing products. Before that, he was a Senior Research Scientist and Assistant Director of Clinical Cancer Research for Bristol-Meyers Squibb, where he created and developed several new product programs. He has also held several academic positions including Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pathology for SUNY, Upstate Medical School and The University of Colorado Medical School.

Dr. Tihon holds a Ph.D. in Pathology from Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons. He received his Executive MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, and his BA in Zoology from the University of Colorado. He is on the Board of Director’s for Celsion Corporation and holds over 25 U.S. and international patents. His research and development work has appeared in over 30 different publications.
