Chicago, IL. – Herbst LaZar Bell Inc. (HLB), a strategic product innovation and design firm, announced recently that Margaret Lowan Benezra is joining the Chicago Mechanical Engineering team as a Principal Mechanical Engineer. She brings over fifteen years of experience in diversified professional engineering, encompassing successful design and development, engineering management and project leadership.

"We are very excited to have Margie as part of our team,” stated Howard Dittmer, Senior Vice President of Engineering for HLB. “Her fluid system experience further reinforces our already strong capabilities in that technical area, and her depth of experience in working with manufacturing will provide real value to our clients. I look forward to the energy and enthusiasm that she brings to our product development efforts."

Margie comes to HLB from Fluid Management where she has held a number of roles, including Manager of Equipment Engineering and Lead Engineer. She has been responsible for the development of a significant portion of the Fluid Management product line, including the Accutinter 3200; their new technology dispenser, which is taking the market by storm; and the Multi-mix Gyro mixer, which took a 3rd place in the Design News Design Excellence awards in 1997. She also is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and was part of the team that introduced the Six Sigma process at Fluid Management.

Prior to Fluid Management, Margie was a part of the Research and Development team at Aurora Pump and was Engineering Lead in their ISO 9001 certification effort. She was responsible for multiple product development efforts, including high volume and ejector pumps on their Aurora/Hydromatic line. She has also worked at Gabriel Ride Control on the development of after market shock absorbers, and Miller Fluid Power on the development of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.

Margie received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Chicago, as well as a Black Belt Certification from Qualtec. Her education along with her professional experience has not only provided her with an extensive analytical background in hands on design, but it’s also given her the ability to effectively deal with individuals at all organizational levels.
