HLB, Wilson Receive Prestigious I.D. Annual Design Honor for W-Line Tennis Racquets
posted by at 11:01 AM
Chicago, IL. - Herbst LaZar Bell Inc. (HLB), a strategic product innovation and design firm, announced recently that the Wilson W-Line Tennis Racquets they helped design received an honorable mention at the 2006 I.D. Annual Design Review, presented by I.D. Magazine. The racquets were featured in the consumer products category, and were selected by a jury of global experts from nearly 2000 products entered from around the world.
“This is no pink paint job,” stated John Hartman, Principal Designer for HLB. “From the graphics to the overall form and engineering, this product is designed from the ground up to express female athletic prowess in a positive, non-stereotypical way.”
The W-Line is the first comprehensive tennis racquet line designed for the specific performance needs of women. It provides greater comfort and performance over untailored competitive racquets, and gives women the ability to express their individual style by providing a sophisticated range of cosmetic treatments - specific enough to resonate at a personal level for each player, yet universal enough to match up to diverse personalities on the court.
Since 1954, the Annual Design Review has recognized the best in product, furniture, graphic and environment design, from the iconic to the obscure. Throughout the years, this annual showcase has chronicled the evolution of design, and highlighted its impact on our material and visual culture.
Each year, the featured work is chosen by a jury of leading practitioners, who, along with I.D.’s editorial team, focus the abundance of submissions into a clear survey of the state of design. The resulting overview is published in I.D. Magazine’s July/August 2006 issue – the Annual Design Review issue. For more information, visit the I.D. website (www.idonline.com).
